Since spring, if we’re being sincere, we’ve been considering winter nails. We could easily cover an entire calendar with the noteworthy nail trends that are now popular. We decided to celebrate by presenting some of our favorite winter nail designs and asking the experts what manicure trends they’re most looking forward to for the upcoming season because 2022 is almost over.
Shorter nails are expected to be fashionable this season, and it makes sense. Think about it; you don’t want your nails to catch on or rub against the gloves’ fingertips. Christina Kao, co-founder and co-CEO of Le Mini Macaron, said, “short nails have proven to be elegant and little maintenance.” They provide a more natural look, which has become popular.

Nguyen claims that because green is used by fashion companies in their most recent designs, it will be a popular hue this season. The nail artist claims that it has an impact on the industry. Kao suggests a blue undertoned nail polish, such as Le Mini Macaron Gel Polish in Smoky Matcha, because green colors of various tones are quite fashionable throughout the holiday season. 9. Icy winter nails
Combine the squoval shape with a light pink foundation and winter-themed nail art, like ice, snow, or snowflakes, to enjoy the season. According to manicurist Laura Malarkey, the easiest way to create a snowy effect at home is to use a toothpick or other small, pointed object. To produce an ombré snowfall look, “dip it in white polish and form small dots all over the nail, starting at the cuticle and gradually diminishing near the tip.”
10. Metallic accents
Remark recommends this as a must-try for the season, reminding us that a “surreal, wet, metallic finish” may improve any manicure.
11. Martini mani
Betina Goldstein demonstrates that nail art doesn’t have to be realistic. This manicure is inspired by the pimento-stuffed manzanilla olives that usually top the gin-and-vermouth drink, which we would be okay with sipping by the fireside this winter, even without a martini glass delicately painted on each nail. Its sturdy foundation and straightforward circles make it stylish and simple art that can be applied to any length of the nail at home.
12. Amethyst nails
One of the most popular winter birthstones is amethyst, but you don’t have to be born in February to appreciate its beauty or desire to use it as inspiration for winter nail art. By blending multiple Ugly Duckling gel colors for a variegated effect and adding organic-looking lines with a thin nail brush, Welsh nail artist Grace Andrew achieved this gemstone look.
