The color of your nail polish can be a powerful tool for manifesting your desires. Color and glamour magic hold that different colors have different spiritual meanings and can be used to envisage and manifest your destiny.
How am I to know? First, I consulted professionals, and second, I gained personal experience. Two years ago, I realized that the pale pink polish I’d been wearing for years wasn’t doing anything for me, and that it was time for a change. Like a mood board and the manifestation mani Dua Lipa wore in 2020, I googled “manifestation manicures” to find out if particular nail polish colors could help me manifest or “visualize” the future I wanted.
My preliminary research on defunct “color magic” message boards backed up my assumption that different hues had traditionally been associated with different meanings. Motivated, I went for sunny yellow, the color most closely associated with positive emotions, and had a smiley face tattooed on each ring finger. That was then, this is now. Since getting that manicure and purposefully trying out new hues, I’ve had nothing but the best of luck: After months of training, I eventually improved my 5K time, and I landed an interview for my dream job, which turned out to be the one I ended up getting. Of course, it’s possible that it’s just a coincidence, or that just having that cheerful color on my hands every day made me feel better. Whatever the case may be, I’ve recently become a convert to the “manifestation manicure” and have consulted with specialists to share my findings with you. How would you define manifestation?
Megyn Fox claims she “manifested” her fiancé into existence. Manifesting is the process of picturing an outcome that you desire and then working toward it. Creating a vivid mental image of your desired future will help you feel more motivated to take action toward its actualization.
The goal of thinking thoughts that lead to actualized goals is called “manifestation.” Lisa Stardust, astrologer and author of The Love Deck, says, “If thinking can make you a believer, then anything can happen—including your dreams.” Stardust counters that many people don’t realize that merely imagining a thought does not make it so. For example, you have to carry out the necessary everyday tasks. Some people meditate for 30 minutes twice a day, others keep a blog in which they record their progress toward their objectives, while still others construct vision boards to keep their dreams front and center at all times.
What role does color play in the law of attraction?
Sarah Potter, a tarot reader and psychic medium, tells Glamour, “Every color holds a vibrational energy that can enhance our intentions.” To change the energy, realize your desires, and alter your mood, employ color wisely. Color is something we can all connect to; we all have our favorites and our least favorites. This is in line with the energy we are channeling and the requirements for maintaining equilibrium.
She continues by saying that “there is a color for every intention.” Confidence-inspiring red, for instance, and creativity- and inspiration-increasing tangerine orange. Whether or not you believe in the power of manifestation, even seeing the same colors on your nails every day might have an effect on your mood.
“Color in general plays such a huge part in our mood,” says Juli Russell, DIY nail expert for Sally Beauty, to Glamour. “So whatever gives you the confidence to slay is absolutely going to bring success,” the author writes. “From wearing a bright red color to remind you that you’re a BA to a smiley face nail design to give you encouragement, it all starts with a positive attitude.”
Nail polish as a tool for manifestation?
Nail polish and manicures are part of a subset of color magic known as “glamour magic,” which involves using the hues of one’s cosmetics to channel powerful forces.
“It’s a lovely self-care ritual where you must sit still and be present with your intentions as you paint, and wait for the polish to dry,” explains Potter. Because “our hands are powerful: we receive and expel energy through them, and we gesture while we speak,” the author suggests that nail polish can be used to “express your intentions to the universe.”
For instance, I found that painting my nails yellow gave me a much-needed dose of positivity, while research has shown that turquoise promotes relaxation and healing. “Let your nails be a magical reminder of your own power and your own magic,” Potter advises. “We see our hands throughout the day.” You should visualize your goals clearly in your mind as you paint. What do the various hues represent?
As in, “Want a pay increase? If you want the courage to ask your boss for a raise, painting your nails red will help. Have you noticed a void where your intuition used to be? Potter recommends painting your nails purple as a way to remind yourself to listen to your intuition. Stardust says that orange is a good color to wear to a job interview. She recommends that candidates for positions that require creative problem-solving wear orange to their interviews since “orange is the color of creativity.”
Color magic can also be incorporated into nail arts and patterns for people who prefer them. When it comes to actualization, the foundational hue is of utmost importance. So long as it uses the colors of the calls you want to make, Stardust says, it will work.
To attract prosperity in the next year, Stardust advises painting your nails gold or silver. “This be great for prosperity and confidence in the new year,” she exclaims. “Designs with stars because they represent goals or something to strive for, and setting an intention for abundance or money with those key elements in mind, after rinsing your hands with basil leaves, will bring in wealth.”
